Editorial policy
How the information on this website is written, checked and kept up to date, so you can decide how far to rely on it.
Who this page is for: anyone who wants to know how our information is written and checked.
Who writes our pages?
Our pages are written by Websposure Ltd, the agency that builds and looks after this website, working from Hans Naicker’s own answers and documents. CHECK: Tej and Hans to decide whether to say that drafts are prepared with AI writing tools
How are pages reviewed?
Hans Naicker, our Clinical Lead and an NMC-registered mental health nurse, reviews every page that gives clinical information before it is published. Those pages show “Clinically reviewed by Hans Naicker” and the date of the last review.
- Clinical content is reviewed every 12 months, or sooner if guidance changes.
- Links, crisis numbers and local information are checked every three months.
Which sources do we use?
Where we give clinical or factual information, we link to the source: mainly the NHS, the National Autistic Society, and official council and NHS pages for local services. We don’t invent statistics, citations or local services, and we don’t quote waiting times we can’t back up.
How do we choose our words?
- Plain English, written to you directly.
- Identity-first language, such as “autistic people” and “your autistic child”. Some people prefer “person with autism”, and we respect that.
- We talk about autistic traits and signs, not “symptoms”, and we avoid words like “suffers from”, “mild”, “severe” and “high-functioning”.
- We never promise a diagnosis, an outcome or a waiting time, and we don’t make comparisons we can’t prove.
What about the illustrations?
Our illustrations are original artwork in one style, made by Hans and with AI design tools, and Hans approves each one. They never show real people. We don’t use stock photos of children, families or therapy sessions.
Reviews and stories
We don’t show reviews or client stories until real ones exist, shared with consent. Our reviews policy explains how we ask for them.
